The Trinity Forest and AT&T trails total 8 miles and loops through the Great Trinity Forest on the outskirts of Dallas. The Great Trinity Forest is the largest Urban Forest in the United States and boasts an impressive range of old-growth hardwood forests, wetlands, grasslands and riparian zones. Notable wildlife within the forest include skunks, armadillos, yellow-crowned night herons, wild turkeys, bobcats and more.
Together the AT&T Trail and Trinity Forest Trail form an almost-complete loop that meanders along the Trinity River. It also passes by the Trinity River Audubon Center, a beautiful modern building perched on top of the marshlands, with education programs, volunteer opportunities and a number of short hiking only trails.
There are a number of trailheads along this loop. The Great Trinity Forest Way Trailhead offers access to Little Lemmon Lake and opportunities for both kayaking and fishing.
There is parking available at four points along this trail:
- Great Trinity Forest Way, Boating & Fishing Access (4750 Great Trintiy Forest Way)
- Joppa Preserve Trailhead, Picnic Grounds (4969 River Oaks Rd)
- Eco Park Trailhead (5215 Simpson Stuart Rd)
- AT&T Trail Trailead, Water Fountains (6500 D Great Trinity Forest Way)
