The very appropriately named Veterinary Medicine Trail passes through the animal science research hub for Iowa State University. A paved shared-use path in the City of Ames, the trail provides a short route through south Ames from Airport Road to Ioway Park & Creek (550 S Grand Ave).
The route offers a pedestrian/bicycle crossing under US-30, several pedestrian bridges, and a connection between Iowa State University Research Park and the University's Southeast Recreation Complex. Trees pepper the trail's route offering some shade. At the northern endpoint, it is possible to continue via a bridge over the Ioway Creek.
