The Walnut Creek Lake Recreation Area is a natural gem in Papillion, a southwestern suburb of Omaha. The 450-acre park features a paved multiuse pathway circling Walnut Creek Lake. Along the way, travelers will enjoy views of the lake and picturesque open fields. Spurs lead off to residential neighborhoods and the trail's northeastern end winds behind a shopping center.
From its north end, trail users can make a short on-road connection to the West Papio Trail by traveling east down Santa Fe Circle (a quiet residential street) and then turning left on the paved pathway paralleling S. 96th Street, which heads north to the 23-mile trail.
Parking can be found in the Walnut Creek Lake & Recreation Area (11601 S. 96th St., Papillion).
Nice peaceful walk with nature. Wonderful lake and families taking advantage of it! Everyone should visit Walnut Creek Recreation
This was my first trail walk since moving to Omaha. It’s a beautiful place which helps you not notice how far you have gone. People walking, jogging, and bicycling— all very polite to everyone else.
