The West River Shoreline Trail begins at the southwest corner of Buckhorn Island State Park at the Eagle Overlook and Kayak Launch. This parking lot, aptly named for Buckhorn Island's status as a New York State Birding Trail is also the trailhead for the Fisherman's Trail, an unmarked hiking trail that continues along the Niagara River.
From Buckhorn Island State Park, the trails follows W River Parkway until it ends and then continues alongside W River Rd. with expansive river views for the rest of its course, until ending just short of Beaver Island State Park, also a New York State Birding Trail. Beave Island State Park boasts a nature center, golf course, large swimming beach, canoe/kayak launches and more.
There is designated parking at the northern terminus of the trail, at the Eagle Overlook and Kayak Launch. See TrailLink Map for more detailed information.
