Mobile Airport Perimeter Trail

Rode this trail from the beginning at Doyle Park and finished at buccaneer yacht club which is a small park as well. Along the waterfront we've experienced very little car traffic. Ends up being about 4 miles one way.

Blackwater Heritage State Trail

Exploring the Blackwater Heritage State Trail

March, 2025 by garyanoe

One of our favorite ways to spend Saturday and Sunday mornings is riding the Blackwater Heritage State Trail. It’s a beautiful, well-maintained trail that’s perfect for a relaxing ride. The entire trail is paved, and there are plenty of stopping areas with restrooms along the way, which makes it super convenient for a longer ride.

The park service does a fantastic job of keeping the trail clean, regularly clearing away leaves and branches to ensure a smooth ride. There are two access points to the trail: you can start from Caroline Street or Old Bagdad Highway.

For my wife and I, we prefer parking near the waterfront park and picking up the trail around the visitor center, though we’ve done both starting points and they’re both great options. No matter how you approach it, it’s always a peaceful and scenic ride. If you’re looking for a nice way to spend a morning, I highly recommend giving it a try! Plus, there are 3 different breweries when you finish that serves up a very nice cold brew.

Blackwater Heritage State Trail

one of the best

It does not get much better than this, plenty of parking and access points, bathrooms clean and well spaced along the way, nice visitor center and plenty of benches to take a break if need be. 12' wide nice smooth paved trail, slight elevations, nice scenery. In town plan on some stops at road crossings but people are very bike friendly. There is a great bike store too along the downtown trail head if you need something. I just moved about 15 miles from this trail and will be using it often!

Robertsdale Trail

It beats running on the road

January, 2024 by ryancaincarlson

I ran from north to south after starting at the very north end of the paved path. The path section of the path measured 1.75 miles (3.5 miles out-and-back). You can continue running onto a non-paved section of the trail. I stopped at 2 miles but it looks like i might be closer to 2.2 if you run all the way to the road (4.4 miles out-and-back).

You do cross a number of roadways. Most of these are small side streets but there are 2 larger roads where you may get stopped by traffic.

Eastern Shore Trail

beautiful Trail!

A lot of people have given this trail a bad review, I didn't think it was all bad! It is a sidewalk, so there are a lot of crossings, but it's a wide path very good signage, and you go through beautiful neighborhoods, the alligator boardwalk, and some coast views. I crossed over 4000 miles on this trail so I've been on a lot of trails! I wouldn't do this trail with skinny tires because of all the crossings but we enjoyed it overall very much.

Nice Surprise

I've done this trail 3x now. Last year just out to the Base, & this year 2 times with the wife. Great ride, the last leg before the base is the only trying hill & it was a Very windy day, but that made for a Zoom back to town Had lunch at Cosse's when we finished.

Great way to spend a day of our Pensacola vacation

April, 2023 by kahlershare

We had planned to ride the Pensacola beach trail, but changed our minds after seeing the beach crowds we would have to navigate around. Instead, we drove out to Milton and rode the Blackwater Heritage State Trail. So glad we did! We entered the trail at the visitor center in Milton and rode to the naval air station and back twice, giving us about 32 miles total. The trail was very well maintained, with occasional benches and several restrooms well spaced all along the length of the trail. Before getting out of Milton (perhaps the first mile after the visitor center), we had to cross several small-town roads, after which the crossings were less frequent but a bit more challenging. Nothing we couldn't handle, though.

The countryside we passed through along the ride was mostly pretty and interesting. When we got close to the air station, we felt like we were vaguely surveilled by a helicopter, but no one approached or bothered us. Overall, a great ride that we would gladly do again!

Blackwater Heritage State Trail

well maintained trail

January 2023 We started at the library and because we didn't want to bike through town. The parking is limited. Further up there is a large lot which may be better. The trail is asphalt and level. No roots through the pavement and very little debris. Wonderful trail.

Nice scenic ride from Milton to rural area

Love this ride that takes you through a canopy of trees to open areas filled with wild flowers. You can extend the ride by heading up Copter Road that circles around NAS Whiting Field and through cotton fields.

Eastern Shore Trail

Eastern Shore Trail

September, 2022 by mvporter

Recently I traveled along the Eastern Shore Trail as a nostalgic experience with the hopes of returning and riding the length of the trail along Mobile Bay. And to confirm what others have said about the trail condition. I was utterly disappointed. What Trail Link describes as a beautiful bike trail is nothing more than a narrow unmaintained sidewalk with dangers fraught at driveways and intersections. (It may not even be worthy of that dismal description.) Please remove it from the list of other very fine and noteworthy trails.

Great Trail

Did the entire trail along with picking up all but just a few geocaches along the trail. Nice riding, just a few street crossings and different scenery along the way.
