New River Trail

Good trail, but still needs loose terrain.

May, 2017 by georgeudg

The trail is great to cruise, but I really wish it had loose terrain to practice MTB tecniques and skills. Although concrete is good, but getting dirty on the dirt is even better.

Skunk Creek Trail

wonderful trail

April, 2017 by my7rhvn_tl

I ride my bike multiple times per week on this trail. I use both Skunk Creek Trail and New River Trail. They connect and both are excellent trails! The trail is asphalt and concrete. There is a lot of vegetation and wildlife to see. I just wish it would go further west so I could ride to the trail and not have to drive there

State Route 51 Trail

The east side of Phoenix

April, 2017 by hosdelagdo1

This is a nice fully paved trail that runs parallel to the AZ 51 Fwy. There are a lot of places to pick up this trail, but I recommend parking right off of 40th St and union hills and starting at the bridge right there.
There is a huge parking lot at the batting cages on that intersection and a small sidewalk that takes you straight to the bridge.
From there you can either head north towards the 101 and connect to the w211s trail or head south towards Paradise valley Mall.
I took the trail as far south as it goes and ended up at the golf course on Cactus and Paradise village parkway.
There are some fun but also exhausting bridges that you have to cross on your way there and those are the highlight of the trip.
I'll¿ ride this again next time I want to go to PV Mall.

Cave Creek Wash Trail

A different view of phoenix

April, 2017 by hosdelagdo1

Some people may not like this trail and that's okay. This trail had its share of transients, litter and grafitti, but it's not without its charm.
The cave Creek wash trail runs from Union hills just between 7th avenue and central and runs till it intersects with the AZ canal trail around 32nd and Dunlap.
On this ride you will experience lots of different sights. The trail cuts through a few neighborhoods at first and give you glimpses into various people's yards, but once you get closer to 19th ave it changes shape and then you're riding past golf courses, parks, businesses and even a theme park.
Overall I would recommend this trail to everyone. This trail is Phoenix in a nutshell.

Eastern Canal Path

Closed?

The South end of this path seems to be closed. We tried to ride it this morning (3/15/17) and could not access it from the south. It's gated and locked.

It appears the hard paved part starts on the S end of the path just S of Pecos, so we got on the path at Pecos and rode N to Guadalupe then back.

We parked in a small shopping center parking lot on the NE corner of Lindsay & Pecos, which was right next to the path.

The path is asphalt on the W side of the canal the whole way, and in addition there is a very nice concrete path on the E side of the canal from Warner to Guadalupe.

There is a signalized crossing at Elliott, the other major street crossing all have room in the median to cross half of the street at a time.

There were a fair number of other cyclists on a sunny Saturday. We will ride this path again, and also try farther N.

Indian Bend Wash Trail

Nicest trail in Phoenix

January, 2017 by summersgill

This beautiful and well maintained trail runs along lakes and golf courses. It is the most pleasant ride I've had.

Highline Lateral Canal Path

Ugly ride

January, 2017 by summersgill

The southern end, near the Walmart is nice, but crossing I-10 is treacherous and only for an ugly, poorly maintained trail. Turn around when the trail stops.

Rode the path N from Germann Rd to Ray Rd. Good parking at a vacant building SE corner of Germann & Airport Blvd, it's right next to the bike path and other cyclists and walkers park there, busy intersection so lots of visibility for your car. Path was quiet and somewhat busy on a weekend day. Concrete path on the E side of the canal, and asphalt path on the W side. Road crossings are signalized. Public restrooms at park on N side of Chandler Rd. We will ride this path again.

Tempe Canal Path

Bummer

December, 2016 by wsvanilla

The northern entrance at Rio Salado is closed by a fence. So we had to ride surface streets to find another entrance further south.
Path is partially asphalt and some concrete and while the settlement cracks look to have been repaired years ago, these are again in need which makes for a rough transition with uneven surfaces.
At major crossroads, one has to navigate these busy streets as there are few if any crosswalks at these junctures. INSANE scenario.
With the amount of revenue Tempe and Mesa generate from residents, businesses and tourists, one would think some could be devoting to optimize this potentially great pathway.
We turned back after 2.5 miles due to the unsafe nature of the outing. Wow!

Cave Creek Wash Trail

typical Phoenix trail

parking at Rose Mofford Sports Complex is nice and easy. the trail runs along the water canals found all around Phoenix. the main trail is asphalt, but I ran on the sand between the trail and the canal. didn't notice any shade. no water stops along the trail. carry your water! is nice. lots of bikes along the trails.
