We had a hard time finding the parking for this trail. Directions on one of the earlier reviews was misleading and wrong. We finally found the north end of the trail and parking after several turn arounds. Off I 85 N heading to Atlanta take exit 79 to Valley. Turn right onto Hwy 29. Follow to 35th street, turn right. Then follow to turn left onto 22nd St. parking is at end of Street where trail begins.
The trail ends after about 1 1/2 miles. Go to right on Hwy 29 and you will see the trail again after about a half mile on the left side of the road.
We thought the beginning and ends of the trail were the nicest parts. Wooded and quiet. Mid section goes through the center of Valley along Hwy 29. Lots of traffic!
The Fall Line Trace is an 11-mile paved trail and one of my favorite features of Columbus. It uniquely connects the city from uptown to midtown, making it easy to experience multiple parts of town in one continuous ride or walk. What really adds character to the trail is its historical significance—it follows the old Central of Georgia Railway corridor. Riding along it, you can’t help but imagine the stories and history that once traveled these tracks. The pavement is in good condition, and street crossings are clearly marked with crosswalks, which makes it user-friendly and accessible. The trail can take you from Flat Rock Park past the iconic Burger King Train Station, through CSU, and all the way to the RiverWalk downtown. The trail is popular and often busy, so it’s important to stay aware of your surroundings and watch for other cyclists and pedestrians. If you’re riding a bike, be sure to have lights installed—this is enforced. Overall, the Fall Line Trace is a great blend of history, recreation, and connectivity, and it’s a standout asset for the city of Columbus.
I love this trail, my imagination runs wild thinking about the history behind it. Very well maintained and freshly paved. I hope they continue to expand it.
Named after the famous train that was also named after the greatest horse of all time. I love the history behind this trail. The trail follows the path of the retired diesel train. Well paved and maintained. Stop by the chamber of Commerce in Hamilton for souvenirs and free refreshments.
Very nice ride. The inclines are a bit long, which makes the downhills a breeze!
We complete trail July 2025. It was a nice smooth ride. Great workout, we will do again many times

Nice Trail,Found Parking near Church,Smooth Enough for Skates, Could Use Some Maintenance.
Today April 11, 2025, we rode this beautiful trail. It is well maintained with asphalt in great condition, lots of mile marker signs which even have the kilometers and elevation on them, lots of benches to sit and relax on and a mix of open sunny spots and tree shaded spots. We stopped at the Callaway Country Store for lunch. There is a nice paved path to take you from the trail up to the store. On the way back we stopped at Hamilton Ice Cream Company for some chocolate ice cream.
We really enjoyed this trail. Newly paved, wide path, marked well, and scenic.
