Eastern Canal Path

Ive been riding parts of this for 10 years

My only complaint is that they ripped up the pavement on some sections and never repaved it! I also want to share that on this canal, just south of the Riparian park (on Guadalupe) you will see electric lines and a sidewalk going east/west. This is a great trail to use in conjunction with this canal trail. This trail runs from power road way out to Tempe. Some parts are dirt but most are paved. This electric line trail will take you right to downtown Gilbert

Eastern Canal Path

Great Ride!

There’s lots of street crossings, but it wasn’t that big of a deal. You just have to keep your eyes open. Maybe half of the trail was smooth between compacted dirt and concrete. The rest was fairly rough and gravely. Highly recommend it.

Queen Creek Wash Trail

Great Trail a little bumpy

November, 2023 by sararoth551

I love this trail. They did some work on the path and it is really bumpy for road bikes. You can ride to Power and head over to Sonoqui. I can get a good 22 miles in on this loop. Pros: I feel very safe on this trail. You are by houses and no matter the time of day other people are out. Cons: really bumpy for a road bike

Arizona Canal Path

Caution West of Hatcher Road

June, 2023 by desertkahuna

I love biking the canal systems.
I entered at 56th street just across the street from the 56th hydro power plant (this is really cool place to stop stretch and read some history).
The bike under passes were fine until 27th ave and there were two transients but easily passed. The I 17 underpass was a different story.
I got 1/4 down the slope and the entire tunnel was blocked with transients. There was no way to bike safely through. At this point I turned around and went on in another direction.

Queen Creek Wash Trail

Great Path

This path is awesome. It is asphalt, very smooth and well maintained. It can be busy at times and is a multipurpose trail where portions can’t be used for any motorized vehicles. So if you walk, road bike, mountain bike, or use a trike, it a great path!

Queen Creek Wash Trail

Trail was amazing and beautiful scenery along the way. Parks, neighborhoods and wildlife along the path. Very busy on the weekend but we'll worth it!

Eastern Canal Path

Great ride

This is a good long ride! Some areas really bumpy not all of it is paved.. Take lots of water and snacks. Me and my friend stopped at a park to rest on the side and refuel. Always have a partner there are homeless people along the way.. Be safe not for beginners.

Arizona Canal Path

AZ Canal Path from N Hayden Rd to Lower Salt River Rec Area

April, 2022 by peasenh

We rode the AZ Canal Trail on a Mt Bike and my wife on a Trike Recumbent. Started at Bashas on Hayden Rd and headed east. The ride was approx 16.5 miles one way; we had lunch in the shade at the Lower Salt River Rec Area Park. We were "very lucky" and saw 4 wild horses just south west of the Granite Reef Dam. CAUTION: Ride only the South Side of the canal and be sure to have plenty of water, no potable water sources or shade anywhere along the canal. However, there are a few dispersed porta-potties. We attempted a few portions on the canal's north-side trail but encountered locked gates and fences. The surface is not suitable for skinny tires.
