Ok section, kind of dull. Agriculture & cows. Found a bit of shade by a grain elevator for lunch. Several washouts filled with tumbleweeds as you get closer to Lind.
We started in Akron and rode about 18 miles north. Loved it!!!
We ( recumbent trike & e-bike) headed West from the Kiwanis park. Turned around after 9km as the surface was really tough on the trike. There’s 2 good wheel tracks for bikes, but the trike had to ride partially in the coarse trail ballast. Scenic area with farm views and a huge windmill farm in the distance.
I was traveling through the area and looking for somewhere safe to run where I would not be on the roads. I parked at the Town and Country Grocery Store, crossed the street to pick up the path and headed south. The path follows Highway 89 (as the name suggests) so expect to be traveling alongside the road. I went 4 miles out and 4 miles back.
Surprised to see this amazing trail that has great bed and breakfasts along it is not noted as part of the Great American Rail Trail. It sure would help demonstrate more GART completion if it was.
We are disappointed to see that the current management plan seems to be about manicuring the grounds, rather than preserving the natural features. Lots of old trees have been cut and brush cleared away, leaving less cover for wildlife. If someone wants to spend money on this wonderful trail, how about getting patrols out there to enforce the leash-laws for dogs. My husband was bit by an off-leash dog on the trail this morning. No, it didn’t break the skin, and he didn’t call law enforcement, but it isn’t the sort of experience one wants to have when walking on a trail where leashes are required. Cool place, would hate to see it shut down because of people who don’t like the rules there.
A nice ride. The hub is a good place to start.
This trail is so rough and ground down to almost sand that I literally could not enjoy any scenery do to having to keep my eyes focused on 3 feet in front of me at all times. ATVs have absolutely ruined this trail to the point it isn’t even decent for them.
This trail should not be on TrailLink period. My wife and I rode about 5 miles on this trail and saw not one other bike or anything else for that matter. Trail has been ruined by ATVs to the point that even they don’t use it much anymore. Zero stars
We took electric scooters and did 16miles of this trail was so beautiful seen 6 deer 5 turkeys will glad go back and explore more
I ride a lot of mountain bike trails. My wife does not. However, we enjoy riding together. Rails to Trails have been great for us to do together. This trail was perfect! We started at the Warm River Campground. Yes, it costs $7 to park there BUT the facility was well kept and beautiful. The upkeep is not free. I don’t mind paying for what I use. From the campground we biked to the tunnel. The tunnel is cool. It was like looking at a relic from the past with stories buried into the rocks, walls and wood beams. All along the ride you have AMAZING views of a beautiful river. Sometimes it is as calm as a baby sleeping. Other segments it’s as furious as a toddler being told NO. My wife and I enjoyed it all! The grade is gradual with a sight incline on your way out and a nice decline on your way back. We went to the cattle guard gate and turned around. It was a great ride. We
