My son and I did this trail recently on a beautiful Saturday, plus the extension of Red Mountain Park, a workout. Round trip a little over 6+ miles and not being an experienced biker, just a rider from time to time, this really pushed me. I did walk some but mostly rode.
The extension of Red Mountain Park side is tougher than just the High Ore Trail alone, but well worth the ride.
There is not parking for the High Ore Trail that we could find except for at the Red Mountain Park Side and ride it down and through the Trail.
We'll be back and hopefully I can ride the whole trail this time without walking any. :-)
Not the best, but it’s something.
Good length shaded and flat. Perfect. Wish Birmingham could make more of these trails.
It’s an urban trail that is part of a bigger trail that is being developed in the Birmingham metro area. Ultimately it will link the west side of town to the east. I’ve ridden from RR Park all the way to Sloss Furnace. It’s easy and enjoyable. And filled with the history of Birmingham.
I love riding my bike around the park and in downtown Birmingham on the weekend. The park is green and right next to the active railroad. It’s an easy short ride but there are lots of folks enjoying the park.
Railroad park is an absolute favorite of mine for ease of trails and seeing city around the oasis of park. It winds around in several ways so not sure who came up with .4 miles. It’s not accurate.
Lovely ride that connects to Horse Creek Trail.
Beautiful little rail-to-trail. Connects with Sumiton trail. Peaceful ride.
Great multi-use Trail! Love the benches along the way and the trail was nice and clear with beautiful surrounding woods. We saw a few others out on bikes and walking, but not very crowded at all. Me and my brother went on in-line skates and my mom biked.
Fun trail for riding a OneWheel.
Great walking trail. There was beautiful fall leaves all around. Great activities along the way for children to do.
Nice ride but some of the pavement was extra bumpy. Great fall views.
