Tammany Trace

An absolutely wonderful trail!

September, 2025 by robert.richter89

The Tammany Trace is one of the best trails I've ridden so far! The trail surface is nearly flawless, the bathrooms are spotless and I saw a few Parish employees on the trail ensuring that the trail was clean and clear. I started just short of MM 1 to avoid the bridge closure in Covington and rode to the Bonfouca-Carollo trailhead in Sidell which made for a ride just over 50 wonderful miles.

The many trailheads offered water fountains, bathrooms and welcoming towns to stop in for food or refreshments. The scenery varied from suburban to wetlands. The trail is well marked and I found the motorists to be very polite at the road crossings. The Tammany Trace is perfect and well worth visiting, you will not regret riding this trail!

Louisiana Trails - Jamestown to Winnfield

2025 Update; Goldonna to Calvin

September, 2025 by 7cbskswpry

I rode this short section on 9/5/25. The trail was solid double track with firm gravel surface. A few puddles, only one could not be circumvented and it had a firm bottom. The bridges are solidly decked and two of them had nice cement ramps on each end. The trail beyond Calvin toward was Winfield was grassy but rideable, but I did not go too far.

Will chip away at other sections of the trail soon.

Baton Rouge Levee Bike Path

Smooth ride

Parked at the Equestrian Center and rode both directions. For the most part, trail was in excellent shape. Downtown section had a few rough spots. Pedaled into the wind in both directions…

Tammany Trace

Rode from Camp Salmen

February, 2025 by askrens

Excellent ride. Stopped at Lancombe Bridge, Fontainebleau State Park, Abita Springs Cafe and Abita Springs Taproom. The bridge is still out southeast of downtown Covington so sadly could not complete the ride. Check operating hours for museums etc .we rode on a Monday and many places, including restaurants were closed.

Beautiful scenery

So today , I rode for 25 minutes from Calvin toward Goldonna. Few puddles along the way since it just rained but nothing over ankle deep. My pace got me even with sand point rd. Before hurricane creek. There is one treetop and one washout to detour around. It looks good enough for me to spend a day there soon!! Store at Goldonna La has the permits.

Tammany Trace

fantastic trail

But the bridge is out in Covington. We started our ride in Covington and was told that the bridge was out. That's fine but NO signage to navigate the detour. Since we have this app we figured it out, walked our bikes across a very busy bridge and eventually got back on the trail. But they should have it marked. Now for the good part. Great trail, best we have ever been on. Had lunch at the abita springs cafe, visited the Abita Mystery House of super cool collectibles and spoke to the owner for quite some time. Rode on a cool day in December about 6 miles each direction. Flat, interesting ride. Highly recommend

Baton Rouge Levee Bike Path

nice ride

I parked in near LSU stadium and rode around the campus and took the levee trail past the Cane’s River Center and back to LSU area. Campus is bicycle friendly and the levee trail is very smooth with nice views of the Mississippi River, LSU campus and downtown Baton Rouge.

Covington construction

June, 2024 by maurgreen2020

Tried to start in Covington. Bridge out so had to ride around this on the busy highway. Otherwise trail in very good condition. A lot of cross roads that you have to slow down or stop for. Shaded for the most part. A lot of people on the trail which is nice to see
