45SW parallels Texas State Highway 45, stretching north-south for 4.5 miles. The wide paved path has moderate undulations and no steep climbs. The trail is unshaded, and there are sweeping views of the surrounding Hill Country. A highlight of the trail is its interpretive signage, which narrates the area's rich natural history. Using the Central Texas Mobility Authority's mobile app, users can unlock six hidden augmented reality experiences (See related link). Rest areas with drinking water are also provided. The trail will one day connect to the future Violet Crown Trail.
There are two trailheads along the 45SW Trail. Both offer parking (see map for detailed directions):
The MoPac Trailhead - From MoPac Expy (TX-1 Loop North) make a slight left onto Archeleta Blvd, under TX-45. The trailhead will be on the right. There is also a bike repair station at this point.
The Bliss Spillar Trailhead - Take the Bliss Spillar Exit off of the TX 45 and the trailhead will be on the right.
