The Southern Walnut Creek Trail winds along Austin's east side, traveling north from Govalle Park towards US 290. Following Walnut Creek, the paved trail travels mainly through forests as it traverses several parks. Various spurs connect it with the YMCA, Austin Tennis Center, and schools. The trail's north end terminates in the Daffan neighborhood, which once served as a stop on the Texas and New Orleans Railroad in the 1930s and 1940s.
Parking is available at the southern trailhead at Govalle Park (5200 Bolm Rd.). Parking and trail access is also available along the trail at YMCA of Austin and Austin Tennis Center.
