The Baquiano Trail is one trail of many in beautiful Sweeney Ridge, a prime bicycling and hiking area in San Mateo County. The trail climbs 550 feet from a junction with two hiking trails in the west to the multiuse Sweeney Ridge Trail at the Portolá Discovery Site in the east. The monument marks the approximate location where a Spanish explorer discovered the San Francisco Bay in 1769.
There are no parking areas for the Baquiano Trail. Consider parking at the trailhead for the Sneath Lane Trail at the southern end of Sneath Lane in San Bruno. From there, take the Sneath Lane Trail and Sweeney Ridge Trail past the Portolá Discovery Site to reach the Baquiano Trail.
