The Sneath Lane Trail is one trail of many in beautiful Sweeney Ridge, a prime bicycling and hiking area in San Mateo County. From a trailhead in the Crestmoor neighborhood of San Bruno, the paved path ascends to the top of the ridge, gaining 500 feet of elevation in the process. Views are almost immediate and feature San Andreas Lake to the east and the San Francisco Bay to the west. San Bruno Mountain looms imposingly over the bay, while airplanes take off every few seconds from San Francisco International Airport.
From the trail's southern end, continue on the Sweeney Ridge Trail for more scenic views and to access the Portolá Discovery Site, which marks the approximate location where a Spanish explorer discovered the San Francisco Bay in 1769, as well as the remnants of a Cold War era Nike missile site.
Parking for the Sneath Lane Trail is available at the southern end of Sneath Lane in San Bruno.
