Overview
The Buffalo Ridge Trail is a 2.5-mile trail that travels through the suburbs of the Lakefront town of Traverse City, MI.
About the Route
The northernmost endpoint of this trail is located along W Eleventh St. near the Traverse City Rustic Campground. From here, the trail heads south alongside US-31. After about 0.2 miles, the trail turns right into an open field. This westward section of trail was constructed along an old railbed, making the Buffalo Ridge Trail a rail trail.
From here, the trail heads south along Silver Dr. and passes Historic Barns Park. The trail travels south past the TCAPS Montessori School and Middle School and leaves the roadside to travel into an open field next to the Grand Traverse Bay YMCA. This section also features native landscaping alongside the trail. Here, the trail curves through the meadow slightly northward before reaching its southern end at Creekside Dr.
