The Clam River Greenway represents a citizen-led effort to create a safe and beautiful recreational asset in what had been a neglected space. Today, the trail connects Bob Meyer Jr. Park in the north with Lake Cadillac in the south through a dense residential area. The path is lined with uplifting features like a sound garden, flowers and bridges over the wetlands. Part of the route, along Business US-131, follows existing sidewalks.
You can park at Bob Meyer Park at the north end of the trail or at the lot on the southern end just east of the intersection of Linden and Chestnut streets.
Okay, it’s not the hike to Speery Chalet in Glacier, but it’s not a one. Some parts are green and lush, and others are walking through some of the more run down parts of Cadillac. It was a nice walk, good exercise, and some areas very nice. I would recommend an out and back to occupy an afternoon. I don’t believe I would suggest you drive a hundred miles to get to it, but if you are already in Cadillac (I was), it’s worth the hoof.
This trail was a pretty big letdown. There were parts that were nice, but a majority was near pretty rundown neighborhoods. The south most part of the trail, close to Lake Cadillac was pretty nice. Rather than wasting your time on this trail, park at Lake Cadillac and walk along the sidewalk, or check out the sound garden.
