While Richmond isn’t necessarily known for its bike-friendliness, the Cannon Creek Greenway is a step in the right direction. The trail is 1.9 miles long, a north-south trail along the east side of the Richmond-Henrico Turnpike. It exists in two segments: from Valley Road north to Henrico Drive, then continues from Fourqurean Lane to E Brookland Park Avenue. The two segments are linked by shared bike lanes on Henrico Drive. More than just a bike trail, the paved surface allows for a range of non-motorized uses. It mostly runs through a wooded corridor.
It is hoped that the Cannon Creek Greenway will be an inspiration for future bike-pedestrian facilities in Richmond. Future plans for the trail include a connection to the Capital Trail at the James River.
There is no designated parking area. On-street parking is your best option.
A very smooth path that has a couple of road crossings. If you cross Brookland Park Blvd then you can extend your ride. Great if you want a path to calibrate a new bike, power meter, or teach someone.
