The Chamberlain Walking Path takes you from one breathtaking view to another. It begins in Barger Park, sitting on the east bank of the Missouri River. Here you can enjoy wide, unobstructed views of the river from a bench just yards away from the water. Leaving Barger Park, the trail travels alongside Main Street/ Jasper Ave./ SD-50, cutting through the heart of Chamberlain, and then continues north out of the city into the hills. The upward climb might be a moderate challenge for some trail users but its worth it to be able to look back down at the landscape and river from that vantage point. The trail ends at Roam Free Park, a perfect spot to watch the sunset over the Missouri River. Be sure to carry your phone or camera to capture the views. If you are riding out and back, the good news is the ride back to Barger Park is all downhill.
You can park at either end of the trail. Barger Park is located at 335-347 N Courtland St., Chamberlain. There's a water fountain there where you can fill up before you head out.
Roam Free Park is located northeast of the city, just off of Jasper Ave/ SD-50. You can also find benches, restrooms, interpretive signage
The kids and I and the dogs had an absolute blast. Can't wait to go again. So beautiful. And very friendly people.
The kids and I had a blast today. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. I hope the people that live here appreciate what they have. We will definitely go again.
