Children of the Sun is a translation from the Salish language. While the North Spokane Corridor (SR 395) is a high-speed motorway, the trail runs parallel to it to provide a safe travel alternative for those preferring human power. The trail mirrors the freeway’s route, down to the changes in grade. These undulations do make for a somewhat challenging walk or ride in parts. At present, the trailside scenery mostly consists of industrial, while providing some access to residential areas and open space. The trail will be 10.3 miles when complete and will eventually connect to the Ben Burr Trail.
At the northernmost endpoint, you can park in the Village Center Cinema parking lot. Additional parking for northern access in the Farwell Elementary School parking lot on N Crestline Rd just north of Farwell Rd.
The southermost parking log is at E Columbia Ave and N Market St. And one more is available on N Freya Rd just south of Lincoln Ave.
This trail is a real find! Right in the heart of north Spokane, this trail is perfect for safely biking or walking with family. You get quite a workout, as there are hills, and it follows along the new 395 corridor. We love to stop at Sportsman Cafe on Market, for breakfast on a Sunday morning. Big skies and well paved, for an enjoyable ride or walk. We walk and ride this trail daily!
