Denali's Park Road crosscuts Alaska's most famous national park. It is a 92-mile road with the only acessd on the eastern end near the Denali Visitor Center.
Although the route is open to car traffic, its a popular bikepacking route as it carves its scenic route through the park. The first 15 miles of the trail are more heavily trafficked and paved, but after that, the trail is far more open to wilderness. The further from the Park's entrance, the wilder the park becomes and past mile 34, there are no services.
The entire 92-mile road gains and loses 10,000+ ft. of elevation. Cyclists should be prepared for difficult conditions.
There are several designated camping options including: Riley Creek (Mile 0.25), Savage River (Mile 14), Sanctuary River (Mile 22), Teklanika River (Mile 29), and Igloo (Mile 34). Backcountry camping is also allowed, but you must acquire permits. For any form of camping, be sure to have a bear-safe cannister.
Parking is available at the Denali Visitor Center and nearby Riley Creek Campground. The Savage River shuttle and transit buses can help transport bikes to/from your destination but reservations are required.
