The East West Parkway Trail is an asphalt sidepath trail that runs for three miles along its namesake roadway in the northern reaches of Anderson, South Carolina. Unlike many sidepath trails, which tend to favor function over beauty, the East West Parkway Trail provides a surprisingly scenic walk or ride, taking trail users along the edges of marshy fields filled with various water fowl, with rows of newly-planted trees and lampposts lining the route.
You still won't exactly be escaping into nature, thanks to the nearby presence of fast-moving car traffic and the large strip malls at the western end, but it still makes for a solid recreation option for the small city. Just make sure you're prepared for a bit of a climb heading west to east, as the start of the trail features a steady ascent.
Parking is available along the trail route at a small county parks lot on Brookhollow Road, just off of East West Parkway.
