West Cambridge Park and Trail are examples of a community turning its former railroad assets into treasured community recreation spaces. The 11 acre-park occupies the site of an old railroad switching yard, and offers a playground and a a gazebo. The park acts as the trailhead for the West Cambridge Trail, which stretches three miles out-and-back. The rail-trail is eight-feet wide with a packed stone-dust surface (patchy in some areas) and accommodates pedestrians and cyclists. It is located below grade, passing underneath roadways.
The West Cambridge Trail connects to the nearby Cambridge Gateway Trail via sidewalks along West Cambridge Avenue/ SR 72.
Park at West Cambridge Park (451 Grove Street, Greenwood). There are restrooms in the park.
