The Cambridge Gateway Trail stretches east-west along West Cambridge Avenue up to Calhoun Road/ State Route 225. The eight-foot wide stone-dust trail is lined with mature trees providing shade and is a rails-to-trails conversion, one of several that the community of Greenwood boasts. At its east end, sidewalks connect users to West Cambridge Park on Charles Street, the site of a former railroad switching yard. From there users can connect to another rail-trail, 1.4-mile West Cambridge Trail.
The one-mile trail represents years of collective efforts to convert this old railroad into a biking and walking amenity. Signs placed at either end of the trail celebrate the varied groups worked to make this trail possible.
Park at West Cambridge Park. ((451 Grove Street, Greenwood). Use the sidewalk along West Cambridge Avenue/ SC-72 Bypass to head west until the trail's start point. The trail is located on the north side of West Cambridge Avenue.
