Closure Notice: North of the McDonalds, the Erwin Linear Trail is closed until further notice (as of October 31st, 2023). The Bathrooms are also currently closed. Please see the Town of Erwin Facebook Page for more current updates.
The Erwin Linear Trail (a.k.a. the Erwin Greenway) parallels I-26 along North Indian Creek and Nolichucky waterways for more than 4 miles. The trail is paved and mostly flat, coursing through the Cherokee National Forest northwest of Banner Hill.
The trail traverses a variety of environments, changing from winding through the wooded areas and past natural ponds and wetlands lakes, as well as past light industrial areas on the western edge of the town of Erwin. South of downtown Erwin, the trail passes Bark Park (185 N Industrial Dr). North of this park, the trail once again transitions out of its wooded environment and passes by a local McDonalds and other chain establishments. After this, the trail once again dips into the woods until reaching its northern end at Old Fishery Rd.
Parking is available for this trail at Bark Park (185 N Industrial Dr), at 110 N Industrial Dr, and at the trail's northern end along Old Fishery Rd.
