The Folly Lick Branch Trail begins in Herndon, a northern Virginia suburb. The paved pathway begins off Herndon Parkway and winds northeast along the Folly Lick Branch stream through a residential area, largely under the cover of a pleasant tree canopy. The trail traverses Folly Lick Stream Valley Park, where you might see deer, fox, and many types of birds.
At Dranesville Road (Route 228), cross the street at the crosswalk and turn left (north), traveling on the sidewalk paralleling the roadway for a short distance to reach the access point for the last segment of the Folly Lick Trail. The trail continues to a connection with the Sugarland Run Trail.
Parking is available near the west end of the trail off Hiddenbrook Drive, just south of Nureyev Lane.
