The Goose Pond Trail runs through Tom Brown Park, the largest park in Tallahassee. Within the sprawling grounds, you can find a dog park, disc golf course, playgrounds, baseball and softball diamonds, soccer fields, basketball, tennis and beach volleyball courts, and mountain bike trails. Lake Leon (near the park’s southern end) is a pleasant place to take a stroll or have a picnic.
The trail skirts the eastern and northern edges of the park, winding primarily through dense woodlands. Near Weems Road, the trail runs next to an active CSX rail corridor for a short distance. At the Goose Pond Trail’s midpoint, the Lafayette Heritage Trail branches off to the east and provides access to Piney Z Lake.
At Conner Boulevard, take the bicycle and pedestrian bridge over the road to access the Lincoln Trojan Sports Complex behind Lincoln High School. Additional mileage of the trail runs from Hermatige Blvd to Potts Rd. and from Potts Rd. to Mahan Dr. near the hospital.
Parking for the Goose Pond Trail is available at the eastern trailhead on Weems Road. Additional parking can be found within Tom Brown Park (near the Lafayette Heritage Trail and easternmost playground).
The trail is easy and fun for a family day out. However, the path may not be ideal for roller blades. Parts of the path might be wet or have sand/dirt across it. Having said all of that I would still go back, 1.3 mile trail is a great distance for rollerblades (we did a down and back twice)!
At the electric substation on Miccosukee Rd near Blair Stone Rd, there is a sign at the start of an asphalt trail along side the electric power line right of way that goes to Mahan. The sign says Goose Pond Trail but the map on TrailLink for Goose Pond Trail does not match the trail beginning at the Goose Pond Trail sign on Micosukee Rd. Are the 2 trails supposed to be linked somehow?
