The Grimshaw Lake Nature Trail is part of the Amargosa River Natural Area, administered by the Bureau of Land Management. The gravel trail follows an easy, flat route along the abandoned corridor of the historic Tonopah and Tidewater ("T&T") Railroad, built around the turn of the 20th century.
The trail passes through the open Tecopa Basin, where wildlife flourishes, particularly bird species. Nearby is the Tecopa Hot Springs County Park.
Access to the southern end of the Grimshaw Lake Nature Trail can be found along a dirt road that turns west from Tecopa Hot Springs Road, about halfway between the communities of Tecopa and Tecopa Hot Springs.
Dirt road leads to viewing area and hiking trails only. From Hwy at N35.85783 W116.23106 elev 1376’ you have a choice of the dirt road or open route for mountain bikes. Both routes 0.16 mile. The newly surface 2 mile Tecopa Hot Springs Road has bike lanes both directions between Tecopa and Tecopa Hot Springs. Scenic area, did not try the Hot Springs. By Noel Keller 8 Aug 08.
