Print Friendly MapThe Heart's Content Cross-Country Ski Area, located within the Allegheny National Forest, offers three loops that are suitable for beginners. This trail is not groomed. The trail is marked with blue diamonds. The short 1.2-mile Hearts Content Interpretive Trail which offers a scenic hike through an old growth forest of beech, hemlock and white pine.
The Heart's Content Cross-Coutnry Ski Area is located within the Allegheny National Forest. The trailhead is located at the Hearts Content Picnic Area, which offers parking.

I rode the Tom's run 3.3 mile section of this trail. This trail is for the experienced mountain biker or for hiking with comfortable shoes. I was fortunate to have chosen my full suspension mountain bike for this ride. the Tom's run section is rocky, it is muddy in spots, has a lot of tree roots, and some hills to climb an decend. the trail is well marked and scenery is beautiful. there are many large boulders off of the trail that seem to be deposited by the glaciers. The next time I visit, I will bring just my old hiking shoes and a water bottle.
