The Limestone Greenway follows the former Illinois Central Railroad for 1.7 miles south of Bloomington. It's a smooth, asphalt trail that's easy enough for people of all ages to enjoy. The pathway offers a rural, wooded experience, taking users under a lush tree canopy. At its northern trailhead on W. Church Lane, the Limestone Greenway connects to two other rail-trails for a longer journey: the Clear Creek Trail and the Bloomington Rail Trail (which in turn connects with the B-Line Trail).
A trailhead parking lot is available at the north end of the trail along W. Church Lane, 0.2 miles west of S. Roger Street.
Ran this trail in January. The path is wide and welcoming. I have a feeling it is just breathtaking in the fall. Wish I lived closer so that I could run it more often. I felt safe. Highly recommend.
My wife and I walk this trail several times a week and love it! It is mostly shaded and is a great place for walking, running, or riding a bike. It is a beautiful area, and very enjoyable.
Well marked trail that is lined with trees, limestone, and wildflowers. Perfect for running, walking, and biking. It passes a sewage treatment plant, so you might smell poop for a short time. One of my favorite places for a walk.
Short tree lined trail, great for a walk or bike ride. Hopefully they will continue to extend this trail over time. Does connect to Clear Creek trail. Great parking areas on Church.
