Print Friendly MapThe White River Greenway brings residents of Martinsville to the river, for rest, for relaxation and for education. The asphalt trail begins at Old Town Waverly Park, and follows the river's course southwest for 2 miles, through charming woods. In Autumn, the vegetation is bathed in Fall colors; in the Spring, migratory birds descend on the river. There are picnic tables at clearings beside the river, where visitors can share a meal or simply enjoy the view. The trail is also popular as a way to access the river for fishing.
Morgan County Parks manages the trail.
Park at Old Waverly Park, located 8425 Main St, Martinsville.
This trail at Waverly Park is great fun on quad skates. There are lots of obstacles like sticks, rocks, seeds, acorns, lifted cracks, rough wooden bridge, bicyclists, and lots of walkers with dogs. Everyone on the trail outs really nice and considerate. There are tons of places to stop and see the gorgeous White River. There are picnic tables of you want to bring a picnic. My skate tracker app clocks the trail at a little over 4.25 miles if you go so the way foam and back to the parking lot.
Great for inline or quad skating. After the bridge there’s this tree that has little seeds that can be an issue for wheels. Has a kayak/canoe drop point now to.
Perfect trail for walking, running or biking-2 miles out, 2 miles back. Beautiful scenery along the river with picnic tables along the way. Paved and flat.
My husband and I did this trail in Labor Day. The path is paved with some sun and some shade. No hills. Fabulous for those looking for an easy stroll or bike ride. The River was clean. We saw a huge snapper turtle over a short cliff. There were a few gravel/sand bars where people were fishing or skipping rocks.
