The Lower Loop Trail is a wonderful scenic trail along the Slate River with views of snowcapped mountains and wildflowers. It connects the town of Crested Butte to the Oh Be Joyful Recreation Area. The trail is fairly level and traverses several different types of terrain, as well as a reclaimed mine site. An alternative return that is more hilly is the Upper Lower Loop Trail.
Parking is available on-street in downtown Crested Butte.
