Tucked in the southeastern corner of Phoenix, this trail serves as a connector between its namesake communities of Mountain Park Ranch and Lakewood. The paved path runs within a greenway corridor between the two communities, providing a useful transportation and recreation resource to nearby residences.
Parking for the Mountain Park Ranch - Lakewood Trail is available at Sun Ray Park (4059 E. Ray Drive) in Phoenix.
The section of the trail passing through Lakewood is marked private. It is only for the residents that own it collectively. The signs are easy to miss.
Some busy streets to cross with no crosswalk or lights. For the most part not user friendly. Some parts of trail are very nice but crossing streets with cars going 60 miles an hour is not safe.
This trail winds and has inclines and declines. It has houses that back up to it and then opens to two lakes. It offers two playgrounds for different age levels and has a nice break to feed the ducks. I believe it even posts the distances along the way.
