Jogging, rollerblading, walking dogs, pushing strollers and riding bikes are some of the ways that residents of Blaine take advantage of the Peace Portal Community Trail. At 10-feet wide, the trail comfortably accommodates multiple uses. The trail takes you past pastel-colored waterfront homes while providing views of Drayton Harbor, although vegetation and a railroad embankment end up obscuring the water for part of the way.
At present, the trail parallels Peace Portal Drive between between Cherry Street and Hughes Drive, but a third phase will see it continue south to Bell Road. The trail also serves as a taste of what's to come with the Coast Millenium Trail, a planned trail spanning the Whatcom County coastline.
At Peace Portal Drive and Cherry Street, on the harbor side, is a small parklet with four parking spaces. There's also a bench and viewing area.
