The Prairie Crossing Bike Path is a hard surface trail connecting Mundelein to Grayslake in central Lake County, Illinois. The trail is perpendicular to the 30-plus-mile Millennium Trail, which it intersects with at Hawley Road. The trail runs along the west side of Midlothian Rd., a fairly well-traveled road that travels through a mix of residential, light industrial, farmland, and shopping. Points of interest along the trail include schools, a public library, a shopping center, the Lake County Fairground, and two Metra (transit) stations. There are several road crossings, including at Peterson Road which has its own bike-ped path heading west.
Near the south end, you can park at the shopping center on W. Maple Avenue. near the north end is the Prairie Crossing/ Libertyville Metra station paid parking or alternatively, you can park in the Prairie Crossing neighborhood (be considerate of residents).
