Rattlesnake Ridge Trail Description

The Rattlesnake Ridge Trail is one of six in the Hugh S. Branyon Backcountry Trails network that run through one of Alabama's most popular parks, Gulf State Park on the Gulf of Mexico. At its western end, it connects to the others via the Twin Bridges Trail.

The paved pathway begins behind the City Hall complex and travels southwest toward Little Lake through pine woods, scrub oaks and palmettos. Keep your eyes open for wildlife, such as deer, tortoises, armadillos and lizards in the dense undergrowth.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking can be found on the eastern end of the trail at the City Hall complex (4099 Orange Beach Boulevard).

Has Its Own Charms

Rattlesnake Ridge Trail is another short link in the awesome chain of Gulf State Park trails. Not quite as shady or busy as its parallel sister trail Catman Road, it nonetheless has its own charm with its twists, turns, trees, benches and swing. Don't skip this one!

Loved it!

Great trail that links to so many other fun trails!

Beautiful and Safe!

This is such a great place to bike! I rode this trail in August and September 2016. The sky is beautiful and even when it rained, it felt good. I love how it connects to the larger trail which also connects to many others. So much to enjoy on these trails! Has more resting areas than any of the trails I've been on. Highly recommend!

Great Connection to other trails

Great interaction with the other trails, you can mix and match your length, nice to get off the beach and walk on harder surfaces. Very well kept.

EXCELLENT FOR INLINE SKATING

This connects with a series of trails of equal quality. Don't let the short distance fool you. I easily put in a 15mile workout. Pavement was incredible. This portion is dead straight with no interruptions for top speeds.
