Situated about 10 miles south of Easton, historic Riegelsville has built its own multi-use path to compliment its location on the junction of the D&L and PA Highlands trails. Paved with a gravel surface, the Riegelsville Walking/Bike Path extends 1.5 miles from Spring Hill Road south to the junction of Springwood and Fern roads, threading a route between residential communities on the west side of town and a mix of farm fields, woodlands and a horse pasture.
In addition to providing offroad connections for west end residents, the trail also connects important landmarks like the Riegelsville Public Library, the historic Union Cemetery and three churches. Connections with the D&L and PA Highlands trails via local streets make it possible to use the two trails to loop around town, in a manner similar to how the Liberty Bell Trail can be looped with the Saucon and Upper Bucks rail trails in nearby Coopersburg.
Although the trail is suitable for both foot and bicycle traffic, cyclists will have to watch out for the steps on either side of a wooden boardwalk over a wetland just south of Spring Hill Road. Bicycle riders and wheelchair users will also have to negotiate several steep slopes on the northern portion of the trail from Spring Hill Road to the St. Lawrence Catholic Church parking lot, though the section from the church south to Edgewood and Fern roads is mostly flat. Trail users should also use caution when crossing Delaware Road on its southern section.
Parking is available in the lot beside St. Lawrence Catholic Church, located about midway on the trail.
