Running 1.5 miles between the Sorrento Valley COASTER Station and the University of California San Diego campus, this paved bike path provides an improved connection in Sand Diego's bike trail network. Now bicyclists can travel from Roselle Street to Voigt Drive while staying safely separated from vehicles.
Located on the west side of Interstate 5, the bike path is completely separated from the highway and is protected by steel guardrails. Often located at a distanced and lower level than the road, the path is lined with a variety of vegetation, including dense brush, that provide additional shelter from the noise of the traffic.
At the path's north end in Sorrento Valley, an electronic display shows information including the time and the elevation grade, which is about 8%. There is an elegant rustic iron curved overpass over Genessee Ave.
Public transit provides easy access to the path. Both the San Diego Metropolitan Transit System (MTS) and the North County Transit District (NCTD) serve the area. The Sorrento Valley Station (11170 Sorrento Valley Rd) is a transport interchange and includes stations for the bus, train, and commuter rail. There are numerous bus and train stations at the UCSD end, including the UCSD Central Campus Station and the UCSD Health La Jolla Station.
To plan your trip, visit the MTS website or the NCTD website.
