The trail is 8 miles northeast of Boyne Falls, MI. Take Thumb Lake Rd. (CR 626) east and turn north on Slashing Rd. Look for signs to the trailhead.
This pathway has lots of potential. The river is very clear and beautiful. The trails are marked with blue blazes on the trees and some sticks or blue ribbons tied to the tree branches. Some places you have to look very carefully for the blazes or take a guess and hope you are on the trail. We missed the turn off for the north loop. Very very overgrown with ferns, grasses, and thorny plants. Some places there is random water that can’t be seen until almost too late due to the overgrown plant life. Many mosquitoes and deer flies.
