Completed in the summer of 2016, Sullivan's Bridge and the adjacent trail provide access from the Schuylkill River Trail, Betzwood Park and the section of Valley Forge National Historic Park north of the Schuylkill River to the much larger section of the Valley Forge National Historic Park on the river's south bank. The bridge and trail are open to bicycles, inline skaters, parents pushing little kids in strollers and walkers, and provide a vital link to the Circuit Trails that crisscrosses the region. Notable features include panoramic views of the Schuylkill River, opportunities to view passing freight trains on the Norfolk Southern freight lines that run along the river's south bank and the nearby historical sites in Valley Forge National Historic Park.
Parking is available on the north end of the bridge at Betzwood Park (1400 Sullivan's Lane,
Norristown).
By parking here, you can head over the bridge and ride the trail in Valley Forge National Park (a 5-mile loop) or go in the opposite direction and pick up the Schuylkill River Trail. We did some of both, and this was a great location to enable us to take a short ride or extend it and do both trails.
