Tacony Creek Trail Description

The Tacony Creek Trail offers a winding paved path along its namesake creek from Juniata Park to the East Oak Lane, Olney, and Lawncrest neighborhoods of Northeast Philadelphia. Situated entirely within scenic Tacony Creek Park, the trail offers ample opportunities for birdwatching, learning about the local watershed, or simply taking a break from the hustle and bustle of city life.

Near the trail's southern end, the park's Ferko Playground offers a large and popular play space for children, while adjacent ballfields welcome young local athletes.

Future plans call for connecting the trail to the Frankford Creek Greenway and both are part of The Circuit Trails, a vast network of multi-use trails throughout Greater Philadelphia.

Parking and Trail Access

There are no official parking areas for the Tacony Creek Trail, but parking may be available on adjacent local streets. Be sure to obey any posted parking restrictions. Access to the trail is available at Cheltenham Avenue, Adams Avenue, Rising Sun Avenue, Tabor Avenue, Bingham Street, Rorer Street, Whitaker Avenue, Fishers Lane and Ramona Avenue.

Tacony Creek Trail Reviews

There is a lovely trail walk, near the trees and creek or stay by the road, there is a school nearby where you can walk the oval track. Or just stop by the fountain ¿ and do a few circles there. Beautiful no matter what season you go. !¿¿¿¿¿

I ride this regularly to get an easy ride in the city. Smooth trail. Plenty of shade, not too crowded.

We go weekly

My family lives nearby so we take the kids and the dog over at least once a week. They walk or bike, throw rocks by the creek, etc. I also run the trail with the Tacony Running group, a program through TTF Watershed. We meet weekly also for several week segments throughout the year. Fairly easy trail, paved with some dirt trails leading off the main trail. Not too much traffic although it’s picked up some over the pandemic. One big hill at the end of the trail near the Cheltenham Ave. Gateway.
