Freeland Pathway is a 2.5 mile trail in Tittawabassee Township in Freeland, Michigan. The trail is a smooth ribbon of asphalt paralleling Midland Road (SR 47), and features some inclines, although it is relatively level. It is not shaded so carry sunscreen and water when using it in summer months. The trail ends behind the baseball diamonds at the Freeland Sports Zone.
A 2.7-mile extension was completed in 2020 and pivots the trail east to Hospital Road, where it will eventually link up with the planned extension of Kochville Township Pathway. The trails are part of a regional system known as the Great Lakes Bay Regional Trail, 100 miles of multi-use trails in Bay, Midland and Saginaw Counties.
Park at Freeland Sports Zone, 5690 Midland Rd, Freeland.
We parked in the Sport Zone parking lot and headed east so we didn't ride the entire trail into Freeland. The trail now is connected to the Kochville Township Multi-use Pathway so you can ride from M-47 across M-84 and beyond to the circle turn near I-675 where you start your return ride.
