The Trail of Blue Ice is a 5-mile route that runs through a glacier-carved valley, passing streams, ponds and a mostly wooded trail route. Starting from the northwest trailhead at the Moose Flats Day Use Area.
The route traces Portage Creek as it heads east and passes the Williwaw Campground and Freestone Quarry until reaching Portage Lake at the eastern end of the trail. At this end of the trail, rail users can access the Begich/Boggs Visitor.
Parking for the Trail of Blue Ice is available at either end of the route.
