The Twin Lakes Trail forms a loop around North Twin Lake, one of a pair of gorgeous glacial lakes in rural northwestern Iowa. The concrete trail takes users through state and county parks, with ample opportunities for picnicking or camping. Although much of the trail on the eastern side of the lake runs next to Twin Lakes Road, with the road and lakeside houses between you and the lake, the northwestern part of the loop provides you with several opportunities to take in some stunning views of the picturesque lake, as well as some beautiful Iowa prairie land to the west.
Trail users may extend their journey by taking a 4-mile loop around South Twin Lake by utilizing the low-stress South Twin Lakes Road.
Parking is available within Featherstone Memorial County Park, on the western side of the lake.
To reach the trail from US-169, take US-169 to State Route 7 outside Fort Dodge, and head west on SR-7 (190th Street). Continue through the small town of Manson, then turn left onto Pella Avenue. Turn right onto Twin Lakes Road, then left into Featherstone Park. The trail runs through the park right next to the parking lot.
