In south-central Wisconsin, the Upper Yahara River Trail connects the communities of DeForest and Windsor along a beautiful wooded waterway. Buffered by neighborhoods, the trail offers residents an easy and convenient way to enjoy the outdoors and a pleasant north-south route through town. The Yahara River is popular for fishing, canoeing, and kayaking, and the trail also provides access for those activities.
The trail is paved (with boardwalk over some environmentally sensitive sections) and well maintained with lots of wildlife to view. In particular, the wetlands and meadows along the way offer excellent birding opportunities.
Parking is available at the southern trailhead on Windsor Road.
This is a nice trail to run on. Hope they length it some day.
Nice trail along the river with grades and curves to keep it interesting. Popular with dog walkers. Only downside is the ever present noise from the expressway.
This trail is great for walking, running or biking. It runs along the river with trees and it's paved. It does have inclines and declines giving it a variety of terrain for running and biking.
