The Veteran's Honor Trail is an asphalt trail that forms an incomplete ring around the community of Highland, Madison County. The paved trail provides a safe and enjoyable walking and biking route around the city, all while connecting to parks, schools and other local destinations. It is part of the city's Sursee Trail System.
The trail begins on Iberg Road (which becomes the Veterans Honor Parkway) at Koch Lane and heads north through Dennis J. Rinderer Park, which features parking, a playground, pavilion and a dog park. Continuing over the railroad tracks, the trail then curves toward the west, past the Highland middle and high schools. It then carries on at the intersection of Troxler Ave and State Route 143. It then curves south again, along Frank Watson Parkway until US 40. A spur provides access to the Gilk Park, which boasts amenities for baseball, basketball, football, skating and soccer, as well as a recreation center.
Trail users can park at Dennis H. Rinderer Park (2548 Veterans Honor Parkway).
