The Veterans Memorial Drive Trail is a paved pathway paralleling both sides of its eponymous roadway in the southwest corner of Boulder City, which lies 25 miles outside of Las Vegas. The trail offers wide open views of the desert environment and the municipal golf course.
The trail's cornerstone is Veterans Memorial Park, a popular recreational amenity with facilities for baseball, volleyball, and soccer, as well as a fishing pond, picnic areas, splash park, and skate park.
On the opposite end of the trail lies I-93. North of the interstate, the 35-mile River Mountains Loop Trail is worth checking out with its views of the surrounding River Mountains and bighorn sheep. It also links to the scenic Historic Railroad Trail, which winds through the Lake Mead National Recreation Area and leads to the Hoover Dam.
Parking and restrooms are available at Veterans Memorial Park (1650 Buchanan Blvd.).
The trail shown on the map is only a part of the trail. One is able to make this a loop by following Buchanon Blvd north to Adams Blvd on a paved trail along the park; then taking the paved pathway west along the north side of the park and home subdivision area. There is a large dog park within the Veterans Memorial park plus ponds with geese and ducks. On the south end of the park at the intersection of Veterans Drive and Buchanon Blvd is the Veterans Memorial Cemetary. One is also able to access the downtown district of Boulder City by following Buchanon Blvd. north to the signaled intersection of Buchanon and Boulder City Parkway, turning right at the signal, and following Nevada Way to the downtown area (approx 1 mi. paved).
just off of the RMLT a very nice down hill to the Veterans memorial cemetery.
