The City of Waynesboro, with funding help from Georgia's Transportation Enhancements program, worked to develop the Waynesboro Greenway Trail to improve conditions for cyclists and pedestrians in the small Burke County community. While much of the project involved installing sidewalks to help local residents access important destinations like local schools and libraries, the city also constructed a scenic stretch of wide, paved trail, which runs through the wooded lands along McIntosh Creek, behind the county middle and high school campus.
The trail runs from the lightly trafficked roads of Southview Drive to Mobilization Drive, providing a smooth surface for recreation and exercise within a quiet, natural corridor.
No dedicated parking is available for this trail, but trail users may be able to park at nearby businesses or on the school campus. Be sure to follow any posted parking signs and regulations.
