The hike-and-bike trail occupies nearly two miles of former Oahu Railroad and Land Company right-of-way located along Pearl Harbor's West Loch. The tranquil trail is tucked behind residential neighborhoods, cutting through fairways, woods and wetlands, and crossing streams. The marshes preserve the habitats of some of the island's endangered waterbirds, including the tall and slender a‘eo (Hawaiian stilt) and the brown mottled koloa (Hawaiian duck). The trail also threads through parks, including Asing Community Park and Kapapapuhi Point Park (West Shoreline Park) where there are piers overlooking Honouliuli Bay.
The West Loch Bike Path is being expanded in both directions as part of the Leeward Bikeway project, which will Wai'anae to Pearl Harbor. The trail will be extended south to Philippines Sea Road and north to Waipahu Depot Street and construction for the first phase is projected to be completed in 2022.
Park at Kapapapuhi Point Park. Heading north on Fort Weaver Road /SR-76 N, turn right onto Laulaunui Street, and right again onto Kapapapuhi Street. The park is at the end of the street.
