White Oak Creek Greenway Description

The White Oak Creek Greenway runs through Cary, a city in North Carolina’s Triangle region that also includes Raleigh and Durham. In fact, future plans call for linking it to the American Tobacco Trail, the state’s longest rail-trail, which heads 22 miles north to Durham.

The greenway is currently divided into two disconnected sections totaling nearly 5 miles. It offers a paved, pleasant ride or walk through wooded areas and provides access to several parks, including (from west to east): White Oak Park, Davis Drive Park, and Fred G. Bond Metro Park. In the latter park, the trail connects to the Black Creek Greenway, which heads farther east.

All three trails are part of the East Coast Greenway, which will one day extend from Maine to Florida.

Parking and Trail Access

Parking is available at the parks along the trail (from west to east):

  • White Oak Park (1216 Jenks Carpenter Road)
  • Davis Drive Park (1610 Davis Drive)
  • Fred G. Bond Metro Park (801 High House Road)
